Welcome to Amazing Desert Journey, a whole new and exciting adventure for VBS! Amazing Desert Journey is not just an exciting adventure through the desert, but children also experience Jesus’ love. Energetic songs and other desert adventures put children in the middle of five Bible events that feature children just like them. What a fun place for a journey!

Children grow in faith as they take an exciting adventure through God’s Word. They see and confess what Jesus has done for them! Amazing Desert Journey gives children many opportunities to participate, lead, and tell others about Jesus.

Just like in the desert, there can be exciting and scary adventures, Amazing Desert Journey shows children that in the unpredictable adventure of life, Jesus is always there for them, guiding them every step of the way.

They will hear again and again how Jesus has rescued them from sin through his love, obedience, and death on the cross. Amazing Desert Adventure shows them that they can trust God’s promise that even though this adventure in life may be difficult and scary, Jesus keeps his promise to bring believers to his eternal kingdom.

Each Amazing Desert Journey day starts at the Opening Oasis. Children meet their leaders and the other children in their group. They sing, pray, learn the day’s Take-Home Point, and participate in reading Scripture.

After the Opening Oasis, children take a journey to five rotation sites for storytelling, music, games, snacks, and crafts. Finally, everyone comes back together for the Closing Oasis for music, prayer and a review of the day.

Vacation Bible School takes a lot of planning and preparation. To help us properly prepare for Amazing Desert Journey, first mark your calendars for August 6-10. Then click the link at the bottom of the page to download a registration sheet. Fill out the registration sheet and drop it off at Good Shepherd or bring it with you on August 6.
